Digital Transformation: A Conversation with AANA

In 2019//2020, the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) noticed that there were deficiencies in the way they connected their 57,000 members with educational content. This presentation will highlight the friction that AANA was experiencing with their member engagement and how those friction points were further impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It will map the journey AANA took in understanding how to invoke digital transformation and how member-centric decision-making became the guiding light to align multiple departments around this digital transformation journey. The results are impressive!

Eric O’Connor is the chief growth officer for the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). He is responsible for building innovative teams that accelerate growth and deliver on strategic initiatives with an obsessive member-first approach.

In this role, Eric oversees the AANA’s brand, marketing, meetings, public relations and communications, membership and AANA Insurance. He enjoys working across the organization and membership to connect people, process, and technology to uncover new opportunities through data-driven insights.

Eric joined the AANA in January 2019 to take on the newly created chief marketing role. He previously served as chief marketing officer of RUBIS, an innovation and marketing agency, and before that spent the beginning of his career building photography businesses. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Drake University and currently lives in the Chicago area with his wife and three sons.

Dan Stevens, President of WorkerBee.TV, Inc. has over 30-years of association experience and takes pride in driving the industry forward. Dan’s first experience in the association world started in 1991 when he launched a chapter for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). Dan has served on EO’s International Board of Directors in various positions, including International Chairman in 1996-1997. Today, EO is a global association of over 14,000 entrepreneurs.

In 2019, Dan released a book titled “Moving Your Association from Analog to Digital,” designed to help guide organizations through their digital transformation. COVID-19 accelerated the need to make this move.
